Take Back the Land

It has been said that the parents of the 1980's and 90's were the Moses generation--they left Egypt (government schooling) and headed for the Promised Land, as the Israelites once traversed the wilderness to return to Canaan.  The generation of Moses completed part of the mission, getting as far as the Jordan River.

Hands-On Character Building
The sixth chapter of Deuteronomy tells us to teach the principles of Scripture to our children by talking of them when we lie down, rise up, sit in our house, and walk by the way. Further, we are to write God’s words as signs on our hands and phylacteries for our foreheads and on the doorposts of our houses and on our gate. How can these principles be applied today? This workshop shows how you can put Scripture on your "doorposts" (they physical structure of you home), your "phylacteries" (wearing apparel), and remind your children of the truth of God during the four natural learning times: bedtime, waking up, sitting at home and traveling. Dozens of projects including craft ideas, games, study projects and creative family devotions will be given to provide you with practical applications for your desire to train your children up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

If My People... How We Can and Must Make a Difference
It seems that every day brings more bad news about the moral state of our country. Homosexuals are getting "married"; the Ten Commandments are thrown out of our courtrooms, the morale of the military is low and character is often lower, divorce consumes half of our marriages, and alarming numbers of teenagers and women are having children out of wedlock. Are we really being asked to define the word "marriage"? Are judges really rewriting the law as they want it instead of interpreting it as it is? Are we the only religious group that it's okay to discriminate against? How did things get so bad? Will it ever get better? What is the Christian's role? The apostle Paul admonished Timothy, "Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believer." We are the salt of the earth, but when the salt has lost its savor, it's good for nothing but to be cast out and trodden under foot of men. Society can get better, but it's up to us whether it will! This session takes a look at the problems of society and offers a sampling of practical ways we all can and should be involved to make a positive difference.

A Heritage of Godliness

A look at the lives and beliefs of our American Founding Fathers by Kate Boyer Who were America's founding fathers? What did they believe and how did their beliefs influence their way of life? This session examines the lives and attributes of some of the early patriots and our founding fathers, both the well-known and the little known. During their lifetime and for many years beyond, citizens desiring to be involved in government at any level were required to profess a belief in Almighty God. In 1848, a history textbook declared of Benjamin Rush (signer of the Declaration of Independence): "Through life, the Bible was a 'lamp to his feet' his guide in all things appertaining to his duty toward God and man." John Adams, 2nd president of the United States, declared that our republican form of government was established for a religious and a moral people, and that it is "wholly inadequate to the government of any other." Showing maturity of mind and character beyond their modern-day counterparts, these men bravely risked and in some cases gave their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor that this nation might have a birth of freedom and that honoring the laws of nature and of nature's God, government of the people, by the people, and for the people should not perish from the earth. If you've ever wondered why it's important to learn about people who lived two hundred years ago, this workshop is for you!

Come Forth as Gold- Making Sense of Suffering

When faced with the prospect of suffering, most of us would say with the Psalmist, "O that I had wings, like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest." No one enjoys suffering, but all of us endure it to some degree. Although we can't control our circumstances, we can control our heart's response to them. Drawing on difficult experiences from her own life, including the death of her brother to leukemia, and the lives of Bible characters and others, Kate illustrates how hard times make us either bitter or better. Many of us have been taught that it's a sin to ask "why?" But our loving Father doesn't delight in sending us through agonizing situations aimlessly or mysteriously. Instead, He wants us to realize that He has a plan for each life, and our best interests and His glory at heart as He trusts us with each difficult circumstance. He wants us to look for His purpose behind our pain. Your heart will be touched as we explore different scenarios of suffering that He allows for certain reasons, and challenged as we examine proper responses to His refining work in our lives. Virtue, Proverbs 31-Style: Lessons I've Learned from my Mother

Remember Now Thy Creator- Reflections on my Home School Experience
Especially for young people. Home educated from preschool through twelfth grade, Kate Boyer is now a 22-year-old graduate looking back on her experience. Growing up in a large family, all of whom were home schooled, she understands the struggles facing home school students – from the seeming expectation of near-perfection on one hand to the stereotype of “odd” on the other hand; from a lifestyle of learning to go against the flow to a conditioned atmosphere of “thinking within the box”. Forming your beliefs, principles and standards, and then holding on to them in the “Christian” world where worldly is becoming normal and anything else is weird, the pressure to just be normal can be overpowering. But one day you might wake up as she did and realize that although you're achieving “normal” status in the eyes of others, you are unfulfilled and unhappy! What happened? Kate shares the story of her journey in this workshop, relating the attitudes she developed and decisions she made, both good and bad, explaining what she would do differently, as well as aspects she wouldn't change, if she could go back and do it all over again. Kate desires to see young people reach full potential for their life and make good use of each moment of their single years, as well as fulfilling the specific roles for men and women in God's society and living a God-fearing life in a godless world. You will be challenged to carefully consider before you make major decisions regarding college, career/occupation and life direction, to ascertain that you are doing not only what you truly want to do, but also what God has in His perfect plan for you!
