Home schooling pioneer Rick Boyer is a man on a mission. With his wife, Marilyn, Rick has taught all fourteen of his children at home since 1980. Today he takes his dynamic message of Bibical discipleship-based home education across America and around the world. The Boyers believe that Scripture gives a powerful model for the upbringing of children and that when followed, boys and girls grow into wise, proactive Christian adults who achieve great works for the glory of God. Rick’s unique blend of Scriptural wisdom and side-splitting humor always puts nervous beginners at ease, while his three decades of hands-on experience provided the backdrop for his practical application of Bible truth to day-to-day parenting. Through his heartfelt speaking style, his several books on home schooling and family life and his many audio recordings for children and adults, Rick Boyer reaches hearts as well as minds. Marilyn Boyer’s Bio
Marilyn Boyer, with her husband Rick is the parent of 14 children, all home schooled since kindergarten. Marilyn’ message of hands-on , heart-to-heart parenting has travelled around the world through her books, recordings, and her challenging, encouraging talks to home schooling parents. With three decades of home education experience behind her, Marilyn understands the needs of children and parents as well. She has a rare ability to apply the practical truths of Scripture to the task of childrearing, always with her goal in mind of raising up sons and daughters who will have passion for the needs of the world around them and will exhibit servant leadership in engaging the culture and fighting the battle for the faith. Marilyn shows how learning is in fact simple, natural, and normal. She takes the mystery out of education and shows how God’s plan is the answer for all the challenges of parenting in troubled times. Rick and Marilyn Boyer are true pioneers of the home education movement. They began teaching the eldest of their fourteen children at home in 1980 and are still actively home schooling their three youngest children today.
Rick and Marilyn have authored several books on home education and Christian parenthood and have spoken at conferences all across America and in several foreign countries. Their books have been translated into a number of foreign languages and have circulated around the world. Their ministry, The Learning Parent, encourages parents through the resources they publish, their speaking ministry, this web site, a monthly newsletter, and their articles, which have been published in several leading home schooling magazines.
Marilyn is always appreciated for her keen and warmhearted insights into parenting while Rick, with his humorous, folksy style has been called "the Will Rogers of the home schooling movement."
